Viivi 00.13 release notes

Version 00.13.00 has been improved at the following points compared to the previous version 00.12.00.

• The Macro implementation was improved:
  As some macro codes were not correctly expanded with the older versions of Viivi, the macro implementation has been largely rewritten to give right results.
• When a command-line option flag takes a boolean value as an argument, only a case-insensitive string "false" is acceptable as the false value:
  The older versions accepted anything other than "true" as a false value. This was a natural behavior of the Java API. But it was dangerous, because any object (such as a filename) following to the option flag was treated as a false value, in case of the intended option value was missed. From now on, only a case-insensitive string "false" is accepted as the false value.
• An option of display/output in the floating-point number format for rational number values was added:
  Viivi displays/outputs rational number values in the rational number format by default:

  	> (+ 1/2 1/3)
  	5/6
  

  However, some other external programs cannot read such a rational number expressions. You can force Viivi to display/output rational numbers in the floating-point number format with

  	a command line option:		-F [true|false]
  	Viivi built-in procedure call:	(viivi-set! output-floating-point-number-format [#t|#f])
  

  providing

  	> (+ 1/2 1/3)
  	0.8333333333333334
  

• a slight optimization for evaluation speed.
• Small bug fixes.

And currently the following problems are known.

• The current locale is not automatically detected on some Linux platforms:
  No such problems occur on Solaris/OpenSolairs, but Japanese locale is always used on the Ubuntu platforms. This problem is currently under survey. (It may possibly a problem not of Viivi but of the JVM.) If you want to use a locale other than Japanese, you can force Viivi by specifying the locale with

  	the command line option:	-LANG [en|de]
  	Viivi built-in procedure call:	(viivi-set! language ["en"|"de"])
  

  Even in this case, however, the opening messages are shown in Japanese. This will be improved in the future versions.
• The users' manual becomes relatively older:
  Now the author has recognized many description errors in the manual together with the differences between the manual descriptions and the behaviors of the latest version of Viivi. The users' manual will be updated as soon as possible.
