Greetings: Viivi 00.00 is released! (2010/10/24) < Logs of Viivi < Viivi's Cell < Entrance
Hello! Grüß Gott! Hyvää päivää!
My handle (internet nickname) is ilma.
I am glad to announce that the program of my private project
Viivi, a multilingual R5RS compliant Scheme interpreter for JVMs,
is now available on this site.
This interpreter was firstly presented as Gino (provisional) at Shibuya.lisp Technical Talk #3 on July 4., 2009. Although I told that it would be available in 2009 at that time, I have had to work on something of higher priority and a year has already passed. Viivi itself is therefore little changed from that at the presentation, except for several bug-fixes and added support for German language.
Viivi is released on the Internet, not because it is completed, but in order to be completed. The purpose is to make Viivi a stable implementation fully compliant with R5RS. So far I alone have been implementing, testing, and debugging Viivi. However, it seems still buggy. It would be better if I could ask people to try Viivi and to report bugs. You might be disappointed with the current version. But I will try to improve Viivi based on your reports, and to continue supplying the latest versions of Viivi as far as no problems occur. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you in advance for your cooperation. I am also looking forward to your comments and questions via e-mail. Have fun!
The first downloadable version 00.00 of Viivi is now available.
You can download it from "Download Viivi"
on the page Viivi's Cell.
If it were not for R5RS, Viivi was not created.
I appreciate the Scheme community for providing this simple, clear, and beautiful,
and at the same time deep language specification.
Many people have been supporting me and development of Viivi.
hiyoax and taayan discussed the implementation with me and supported me. ghost studied Java language with me and gave me technical and publication information. pixie and sneex tested Viivi on the Mac platforms. rd-1 gave me comments on the Viivi home page. kuyoneka is just a funny guy. But it helped me a lot.
Shibuya.lisp and the members gave me an opportunity to present the interpreter and encouraged me in continuing the development with talking about Lisp. shiro and higepon gave me suggestions on the implementation. gom gave me valuable comments on the implementation. g000001 gave me suggestions on the publication of Viivi.
These are only a part of the people. I would like to appreciate all the people for their supports. Thank you very much!
